We are a family deeply rooted in entrepreneurship and architecture that believes anything is possible with the right vision and hard work. Ponvalley started in 1944 when an inner city Detroit history teacher living on a few dollars a day had what others told him was an impossible dream...to build and live in a Frank Lloyd Wright home. Crashing the gates of Taliesin with no appointment, Melvyn Maxwell Smith befriended FLW who told him to find a unique site. 5 years later, every cent saved, Melvyn purchased 5045 Ponvalley and FLW designed Myhaven, one of Wright's most revered Usonian homes which he affectionally referred to as his 'Little Gem'.

This was a place where anything was possible. Great artists mingled with educators, futurists, civic and business leaders. Myhaven brimmed with passion, the love of Arts, open discourse, a deep appreciation for nature and of course Grandma Sara’s hot fudge sundaes. That collective human energy inspired tens of thousands who to this day visit the home from all corners of the world.
